Privacy Policy

a) Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Name — to personalise your experience
• Email address — for authentication and account recovery
• Phone number — if you sign in via phone OTP
• Authentication method — how you chose to sign in (phone, email, Google, or Apple)

b) Profile Information

You may optionally provide:

• Date of birth — used for horoscope and kundli (birth chart) calculations
• Time of birth — used for kundli calculations
• Place of birth — used for kundli calculations
• Username — a unique username (e.g. @bhakt_abc123) is auto-generated for you on first login and used as your public identity in the community

c) Community Content (Stored in Cloud)

When you participate in the Reflections community, the following data is stored on our servers (Firebase Cloud Firestore):

• Reflections — spiritual insights you share publicly, including the text content, scripture tags, and creation time
• Comments & Replies — comments you post on reflections, including text and creation time
• Likes (Namaste) — which reflections and comments you have liked
• Reports — if you report a reflection, your report action is recorded
• Username — your auto-generated username is stored in Firestore and displayed publicly alongside your reflections and comments

d) Push Notification Data

If you allow push notifications, we collect and store:

• FCM device token — a unique identifier provided by Firebase Cloud Messaging, stored in your user profile so we can deliver engagement notifications (e.g. when someone likes or comments on your reflection)

You can revoke notification permission at any time through your device settings.

e) Usage Data (Stored Locally)

The following data is stored only on your device and is never sent to our servers:

• Daily sadhana (spiritual practice) progress and streak counts
• Scripture bookmarks and reading history
• AI chat conversation history
• Local notification preferences and schedules
• Language preference (Hindi or English)
• Reflection bookmarks (stored locally for quick access)

• Authentication — to create and secure your account via Firebase Authentication
• Personalisation — to display your zodiac sign, horoscope, and birth chart based on your birth details
• AI Features — your chat messages are sent to Google Generative AI (Gemini) to generate spiritual guidance responses; meditation prompts are sent to generate guided meditation scripts
• Community Reflections — to publish your spiritual reflections to the community feed, display them alongside your username, and enable social interactions (likes, comments, sharing)
• Content Moderation — new reflections are automatically reviewed by AI (Google Gemini) to check for spiritual appropriateness and to auto-tag relevant scripture references
• Push Notifications — to notify you when someone likes your reflection, comments on it, or replies to your comment. We also support locally scheduled reminders (morning, evening, meditation)

a) What You Share

The Reflections feature lets you share short spiritual insights (up to 500 characters) with the community. When you post a reflection, the following information is visible to all users:

• Your reflection text
• Your auto-generated username
• Scripture tags (e.g. Gita chapters, Ramayana kandas, deities)
• The date and time of posting
• Like count and comment count

b) AI Moderation

Every new reflection is automatically reviewed by an AI moderation system (powered by Google Gemini) before it becomes publicly visible. The AI evaluates your reflection for spiritual appropriateness and may auto-tag it with matching scripture references. Reflections that do not pass moderation are hidden from the public feed.

c) Interactions

Your interactions with community content are stored as follows:

• Likes (Namaste) — recorded in Firestore; the reflection author is notified via push notification
• Comments — stored in Firestore with your username; the reflection author and parent comment author are notified
• Reports — stored as a count on the reflection; reflections with 3 or more reports are automatically hidden
• Bookmarks — stored locally on your device only
• Sharing — uses your device's native share sheet; we do not track shares

Bodhansh uses the following third-party services that may process limited data:

• Local storage — personal data such as scripture bookmarks, AI chat history, daily goals, streak progress, notification preferences, and language settings are stored on your device using SharedPreferences and are not transmitted to any server
• Cloud storage — authentication credentials, community reflections, comments, usernames, user profiles (display name, FCM token), and engagement data (likes, reports) are stored in Firebase's secure infrastructure (Cloud Firestore)
• Security rules — Firestore access is protected by granular security rules that restrict reads and writes based on authentication status and ownership. Only you can modify your own profile and username; only approved reflections are visible to other users
• We use industry-standard security measures provided by Firebase and Google to protect your data in transit (TLS encryption) and at rest

a) Access and Edit

You can view and edit your profile information at any time from the Profile screen in the app.

b) Delete Your Account

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Delete Account. This action:

• Removes your Firebase authentication record
• Removes your Firestore profile, username, and FCM token
• Clears all locally stored data (bookmarks, chat history, goals, preferences)
• Is irreversible and cannot be undone

Note: Reflections and comments you have posted in the community may remain visible after account deletion as they form part of the shared community record. Your username will still appear on those posts.

c) Logout

You can log out at any time. Your profile data backup is retained locally so it can be restored if you sign in again with the same account.

d) Notifications

You can enable, disable, or change the timing of all notifications from Settings or the Notifications screen.

Bodhansh is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

We retain your data only as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your authentication record, Firestore profile, username, and FCM token are permanently removed. Locally stored data (bookmarks, chat history, goals, preferences) is cleared from your device.

Community reflections and comments you have posted may be retained as part of the public community record. Locally cached data (horoscopes, scripture content) is periodically cleaned automatically.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
